A case of instuments with a silver plaque on case that indicates it was presented to Samuel Gaskell from James Syme. There are 9 instruments with 3 scapels, 3 bistoury and 3 hooked instruments (which could be a stitching needle with its small hole at the end, the other an Aneurysm Needle.) One instrument is marked with 'Young Cutler to his Majesty’ with the crown symbol and the intials W R (Indicating King William IV, 1830-1837). Other instruments are stamped with YOUNG, indicating this was made by Archibald Young, 40 South Bridge, Edinburgh. surgical instrument maker & cutler.
