- Metal syringe etched with initials JO with trocar and cannulae and attachment for drainage jar, used for manually extracting mucus or bodily fluids. Also includes two tubing attachments, one in rubber and one in fabric. The equipment is contained in a wooden, leather-covered box with a personalised engraving on the lid presented to Dr John Orr from Dr James Ormiston Affleck (Royal Infirmary) in 1892. Affleck was lecturer of medicine at Surgeons' Hall until 1900 and was knighted in 1911.
