- Vermiform process, laid open, with the adjacent ileo-colic portion of the bowel, showing appendicitis. From a male aged 11 years who died of peritonitis of five days' duration. Post mortem examination showed suppurative pylephlebitis and a dilated, elongated vermiform process which contained pus. The vermiform process measures 100 mm. in length, its distal extremity is distended to a maximum diameter of 25 mm and the mucosa of this portion is necrotic and undermined. The wall of the process is thick and fleshy and the serosa has some fibrinous, velamentous adhesions. APPENDIX
