- Calculi formed around gauze left in bladder post-operatively

 - Soft, phosphatic calculi removed from the bladder of a 60 year old woman on the 22nd April 1956. It was opened to discover it had formed around a piece of gauze, which is presumed to have been left in the bladder following an operation in 1937 to repair the pelvic floor. The calculi is 7cm long, and 5 cm in transverse diameter. An X-ray of the calculi in situ is in the GC envelope.
