- Dentures, upper & lower. Mid-nineteenth century. The bases are carved from hippopotamus ivory. Although anterior human teeth have been expertly fitted and riveted, obviously the maxillary six are from one jaw and the mandibular six from another. The gums and bases have been coloured to simulate natural coditions. Mounted on pespex on wooden base. Back of both the upper and lower dentures have a screw fitting.
