Lamp, portable battery torch

Portable battery torch, belonging to Dr. Enst Levin. German, probably a first world war trench light that would have clipped on to webbing using the leather straps on the back. The model is stamped on the front:
' "Tarnschild" D.R.P. ang' - Tarnschild meaning 'camoflage shield,' perhaps referring to the protected bulb that is encased in metal on three sides to reduce glare and give a soldier's position away to the enemy.
Levin was an medical officer in the German Army in WWI and as such this could have been issued to him during that time. He later moved to Edinburgh and worked with neurologist Norman Dott.
Twentieth century, early
