- Label reads ‘Robert Liston’s Dissecting case’. A leather covered wooden rectangular case with hook fasteners to the front (one missing). Adhesive tape in the middle of top panel with accession number written on it. White, rectangular sticky label on the base panel with, ‘Belongs to an Alexander Miles FRCS. Robert Liston’s Dissecting case Seven knives’. The interior is brown velvet with six placings (only five knives) and one compartment in main section. The lid has five placings but one instrument held in place by flat metal on pivot. This is covered with velvet flap to cover when closed. The knives in main section are monogrammed ‘RL’ and stamped ‘Grice’ on the blade shoulder. The instrument in the lid section is plain brown plastic and curves in shape (similar to cut throat razor) and is stamped on blade shoulder.
