Dry specimen in glass jar. Thigh. Half of a sagittal section of an injected femur after amputation. A ring of new bone has formed round the femur at the site of section but does not seem to have wholly closed the marrow cavity, proximally the new bone forms a projecting layer which has been separated by periosteum from the femoral surface.
