- Periosteal fibroma of the diaphysis of the femur
- GC.4781
- An adult right femur, showing a periosteal fibroma of the diaphysis. The knee joint has not been involved and the distal half of the diaphysis is surrounded by a globular tumour. The greater part of this mass is osseous and densely hard, only the proximal segment of the tumour is soft and fleshy. In the immediate neighbourhood of the tumour proximally the bone is normal. Microscopically the tumour is a fibroma of a moderately cellular type enclosing in the portions examined a few fragments of bone. There is no evidence of malignancy.
