- GC.3419
- Osteofibroma of the mandible, a benign lesion of bone, with unknown cause, appearing as a bony lump. The preparation is the right half of the body of the mandible The tumour projects from the inferior border and involves the whole of the labial surface and a portion of the buccal surface of the body of the mandible. The teeth are present and are not displaced. The 1st molar is carious, and the 3rd molar, unerupted, lies embedded in the bone. Microscopically sections show trabeculae of bone and an intertrabecular fibroblastic tissue. There is no evidence of malignancy and the tumour appears to be an osteofibroma.
