Colon showing a glandular carcinoma, from a male subject. Caecum, ascending colon, ileum and appendix. There is a large carcinoma at the hepatic flexure which has caused a marked narrowing of the lumen, with associated dilatation of the caecum. The tumour has grown through the wall of the gut into the surrounding tissue. there is a very marked staining of the mucosa proximal to the tumour
