- A large collection of oral surgical equipment, believed to be used by John Boyes. 2x Plastic black boxes. i. includes a bottle of penicillin B.P with sulpathiazole B.P 99.5%. A box of Macfarlan's Sterlized Sutures B.P.C, 18 inches in each, single eyeless, eye curved needles. A small plastic black empty case. A collection of needles loose at the bottom of the box. A Cardboard empty envelope for needles. A cardboard box full of Mizzy's Apeks Canal points- used to absorb liquids during root canal. A glass jar with 6 needles and extentions for cleaning the teeth. A pad of blue litmus paper- dentists can use it to see if you have cavities with it. A plastic clear box with extra needles. 3 small brushes used to brush powders on to a local area, and also too brush away any extra. A stainless steel. A cylindrical glass jar with Calgitex alginate ribbon gauze which is fast absorbing- used to stop any bleeding. A glass vial that contains a sterilized ligature. This would be used to try off any loose ends in the mouth. ii. This box contains instruments used to implanting and securing false teeth. Including- a collection of small rubber bands. 12 screws with a chisled opposite end, these were used to create the hole needed to insert the false tooth in to the gum. A device used to keep the moth propped open wide enough to that the surgeon and dentists could work inside the mouth. A plastic box with 2 cement spatulas, used to place the cement into the small openings. A spanner type aatchement head with missing handle, engraved with DOWN BROS LONDON. 12 foundations for the false teeth, these would have been attached to the jaw bone rather than the gums, with stainless rods that they are attached to. 14 attachements including needles and cleaning devices, no handle with them. 7 metal tracks used as the foundations for false teeth when having them ino the gums rather than jaw. 3 spanner like instruments and 1 sharp circular bladed cutting tool. 3 x Metal cases. i. The smallest case includes a hypodermic syringe. A hollow needle is inside the syringe which would have been used to administer the anesthetic. No markings on the needle. ii. Contains a dental syringe and cartirdges, with spare needles and two items which state that they are apomorphine hydrochor. and Poison. And a glass vial that states it is XYLOTOX 2% E.80. The syringe has engraved on it Made in England and PM Co. iii. A paper inside states that is Ash's Imperial Syringe. 20 glass containers with a hypodermic needle in each. Made by 'New Solila' and 'Cottrell's'. A small tube of a jelly used to lubricate hypodermic syringes, the marker of this is covered on th label. The syringe has the engraved on it P.D. & co London. There are 3 attachments for the syringe that would have then had needles attached to them. 1 spanner type instrument. 3 loose needles. 19 x forceps Collectively held in a green pouch. 4- for removing upper primolars, 1 for removing upper root and inscisors, 2 for removing lower roots, 1 for removing lower hoots [hawks bill] 3 for removing upper central teeth and roots. 1 universal patter for lower teeth molars and premolars, 2 for removing lower inscisors, premolars and roots, 1 for removing lower molars, 2 for removing childrens upper molars universal, and 2 other forceps unable to idenitfy. Engravings on the instruments throughout state some of the makers. 2 have no engravings, 2 have ASH ENGLAND, 1 has COTIRELL & CO LONDON, 10 have C. Ash & Sons England, 1 has James Rouse LTD, SHEFFIELD, 2 have DENTAL Manufc, Company Limitied, England, and one has a final engraving which is MDLDC possibly. 1x black cloth bag instruments. 2x retractos, used to hold back the mouth and area that is being opertated on. 2x soldering tweezers, a circular handled intrustrument most likely used for scraping at a large area, possibly the back of the tongue and throat. 1x small curved sharpe retractor. 2x coupland root elevators, 1 x heidbrink root elevator. 7x various forms of chisels, to be used on the tooth and underneath them. 1x double ended scoop, 1x a single ended scoop. 1x cement spatula, 1x ochsebein instrument, 1x unidentifiable object. engravings on the equipment- 3x Made in Germany, 1x Jospi stainless Sweden, 2x Cottrell, 3x Thackray Leeds and London, 3 Dial, Made in England, 3x Made by S.S. White in U.S.A ODS TARNO 1, 2 Allen and Hansbury LTD England. Green pouch number 2. 2x rectactors. 1x metal tube, the lid appears to have become to stiff to open, but could possibly hold liquids. 1x forceps with uneven handles, so that the dentist can get into the mouth at an angle. 1x steel syringe, 1x tissue forcep, 1 x unknown forceps 2x Warick James Root Elevators. Engravings, D.M and co, Hitchin Retractor x 2, Sklar x1, H. Neville and co, Sheffield. Green cloth bag 3. A metal spoon, with made in Germany. 9 x chisels and 1 x hammer. 1x handle for 3 x explorers. Items not in a bag or box- 1x Sterilizing container. Used to clean and sterilize equipment. engraved with DMC co. 2x mouth props, used to keep a patients mouth open during procedures.- black pair has A.C. King and Mc Kesson engraved on it. The other pair is has Hill Bros engraved. England. DM co. 1x part of a chrome plated crowned bridge articulator. 1x chin rest 1x mouth opener, C.Ash and Sons engraved on the handle. 5x t-handled elevators. markings, 2x Ash England, 1x DM co, 2 x Made in Germany, 1x made in England.
