- Portion of skin, from lower back of an adult, showing a sarcoma. The tumour is flattened, irregular in outline and raised above the skin level to a maximum of 20 mm. The surface seems devoid of stratum corneum and on section the tumour has a fibrous appearance with towards one periphery an area of dark pigmentation. Microscopic examination shows the structure of a large spindle-cell sarcoma.
