- Instruments from the Outpatients Department of Dundee Royal Infimary comprising: Two steel trocar and cannula, one made by Down-Mayer, London, the other by Young & Sons, Edinburgh. The hollow cannula is inserted into using the three-pointed trocar (the point of which extends from the cannula tip). The trocar is then unscrewed from the cannula and removed to allow for draining or delivery of fluids. The steel nasal speculum has duck-billed blades, a spring action and locking screw. The instrument is hinged so that when the handles are squeezed together the blades spread laterally, allowing examination.
