- Histology Slides x2 Half of vertical section of a thyroid showing a parenchymatous goitre. The superficial surface shows the usual lobulation with the characteristic discolouration of the colloid material of the gland shining through. The cut section shows numerous alveoli, some containing a considerable quantity of colloid and many with haemorrhages in various stages of discolouration. Microscopically the structure is that of a parenchymatous goitre with considerable fibrosis, old haemorrhages and some phagocytosis.
