Monaural stethoscope, wooden three piece stethoscope, as originally designed by Rene Theophile Hyacinthe Laënnec (1781–1826) in 1819. An early turned wood stethoscope, in three sections. Rene Laënnec (1781-1826), a Breton doctor, published his treatise on the stethoscope, in 1819.
