- Pelvimeter made by Peugeot Frères, France, c.19th century. The makers name is engraved alongside a insciption of a hand palm facing. This company was the original founders of the car manufacturer Peugeot. The Pelvimeter is used to measure the pelvis ahead of delivery, traditionally to identify possible cephalo-pelvic disproportion, which is when the capacity of the pelvis is inadequate to allow the fetus to negotiate the birth canal.
