- The Sahli Haemoglobinometer estimates the bloods haemoglobin level for medical screening. A fixed amount of blood would be mixed with diluted hydrochloric acid and water in order to match a standard colour. The kit includes an instruction sheet, Hydrochloric acid, pipette, dropper, glass rod, and haemoglobinometer. Made by Hawksley Crista in London. Dates from the mid-20th century. On the haemoglobinometer it is printed '100%=14 grams Hb. per 100c.c. 5 minutes' The Sahli Haemoglobinometer was named after Dr. Sahli who had made improvements to the sphygmomanometer and changed the name.
