Scapula with congenital deformity
GC.6195
An adult right scapula, showing deformity.
The scapula is small and the vertebral border from the root of the spine to the inferior angle is concave. The subscapular angle is much exaggerated. The coracoid process arising normally between the scapular notch and the margin of the glenoid terminates in a hammer-headed process with a posterior projection over the suprascapular notch. This peculiarity of the coracoid may be due to the altered line of traction of the pectoralis minor biceps, and coracobrachialis muscles and the scapula may have assumed its deformity from being congenitally high.
