- Carcinoma of the cervix in pregnancy
- GC.10383
- Uterus, pregnant, showing squamous-cell carcinoma of the cervix. From a female who complained of some slight irregular vaginal bleeding after four months amenorrhea. Examination revealed a cervical carcinoma. A modified Wertheim’s hysterectomy was done and the patient was alive five years after the operation. The size of the uterus is that of a four months’ gestation. A portion of the posterior wall has been removed to expose the foetus. The cervix shows a fungating and ulcerated carcinoma which involves about three quarters of the vaginal cervix. On the right the tumour has extended across the lateral fornix to the vaginal wall.
