- Oil painting on white metal by an unknown artist, late 18th or early 19th century, after Der Zahnarzt by Gerrit Dou (1613-1675) but with the background altered. The scene is presented through a window with the curtains drawn. The operator holds up a tooth extracted from the young patient who holds his hand to his bleeding mouth. The left had of the boy rests on his hat which sits on the table alongside a bleeding-basin, instrument box, and a bottle. Above, a stuffed crocodile (an ancient symbol of medicine) hangs suspended from the ceiling.
