Two types of suture material

Black horse hair suture for and a bobbin of another material used for suturing, this being contained in a tin box with now degraded rubber seal. Horse hair suture would usually be left with one end exposed so that it could be removed when no longer needed. These belonged to the late Dr. Ross Scott.
A variety of ligature material, including sterilised horse hair as well as catgut. The name ’catgut’ is misleading as it was usually sheep intestines that were used.
