- Urinary catheters, Case of
- HC.I.2.31
- A black oval case of urinary catheters presented to John Bishop by A.H. Rafer in August 1870. A plaque on the lid of the case reads 'John Bishop, From his Friend, A.H. Rafer, August 1870'. The case contains 11 catheters and one sound, all the instruments are inscribed with the owners initials J.B. The sound is the only instrument with a makers mark, Gardner, Edinburgh, which suggests it is an addition to the kit. John Bishop was Joseph Lister's last assistant when in Edinburgh.
