- Copper-plate engraving. Drawn by Gianni (Felice Gianni, c. 1760-1823) and engraved by Aloys Kesler (1777-1820). After an oil painting by Gerrit Dou (1613-75) in the Louvre. The tooth drawer, in fur-trimmed dressing gown and skull cap, stands behind a seated ruistic for whom he is extracting a tooth. The patient's basket of eggs, staff and straw hat are on the floor. A bleeding basin is on the table and another hangs on a wall, while bottles, jars, mortar and pestle, and a skull lie on shelves at the rear.
