- Gold tooth-pick enclosed in a quadrilateral ivory sheath which has a square gold band at the top and a longitudinal slot at the side to enable the gold push-button to propel and retract the tooth-pick. This was invented c. 1815 and considered by many persons to be the most hygienic and efficient to date. Marked T.C. Palmer inventor. S. Moran & Co. makers. Early nineteenth century.
