- Urethra showing a post-operative cicatrix Posterior half of a coronal section of a urinary bladder with the urethra to the cavernous portion showing the cicatrix after a left lateral perinaeal cystotomy operation. From an adult male the subject of perinaeal lithotomy The bladder is of average capacity and the ureteral orifices are indicated by glass rods. An irregular sacculation towards which the epithelial lining forms converging striae, replaces the left lobe of the prostate. The anatomical features of the prostatic urethra are not recognizable. The right lobe of the prostate forms slight projections around the corresponding part of the internal urethral orifice, and several small recesses in the prostatic urethra. A mass of inflammatory fibrous tissue is adherent to the incised portion of the urethra superficially.
