- Bladder with deformity
- GC.147
- Urinary bladder with the prostatic and membranous portions of the urethra laid open anteriorly showing deformity. From an adult male who died shortly after operation of left lateral perineal cystotomy for removal of vesicle calculus An irregular wound with some laceration of the prostate shows the site of operation and in the neighbourhood the wall of the bladder on the left side is discoloured by a submucous haemorrhage. The ureteric orifices are indicated by glass rods. The bladder is considerably thickened but has been capacious and in the neighbourhood of each ureter. especially on the left side, a number of early diverticula form depressions in the surface. On the right side a diverticulum some 30mm in depth communicates with the bladder through an oval opening 20mm in diameter, just lateral to the right ureteric orifice, and on the reverse causes a considerable tumour around the ureter.
